Vanda Kay Music was born out of a goofy girl's unlikely dream to be a rock star in a small English town in the 1970s. Fast forward a classic training in piano and ‘cello and a few decades, and here we are, finally living the dream and hoping to help others with their own musical odyssey. Vanda Kay Music offers electric bass performance (live and studio work) across a wide variety of genres; private instruction in electric bass, piano, ukulele and music theory; piano accompaniment for vocal and instrumental soloists; band coaching; lead sheet preparation, all in the metropolitan Chicago area. Lessons are tailored to suit the needs of students, both in length and content. Rates are competitive. Vanda Kay also teaches private piano and ukulele lessons, and ukulele classes, at the Old Town School of Folk Music. Vanda was classically-trained on the piano and ‘cello from a young age in the UK. After taking a break from music to work as a university lecturer and then as a legal adviser to the UK Government,  she took up the electric guitar, drums, ukulele and electric bass and eventually found her way back to music via the Old Town School of Folk Music and Columbia College Chicago. She is a Teaching Artist at the Old Town School of Folk Music and now hopes to inspire others to follow their musical bliss.
